Joshua is an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and serves as an Associate Professor at Cal Poly Humboldt (California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt) within the California State University system. He teaches financial, managerial, auditing, cost, tax, governmental, and nonprofit accounting at the undergraduate level, as well as corporate social responsibility and accounting/business ethics within the MBA program. He has published in Strategic Finance, the Journal of Government Financial Management, Treasury Management, and the Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership as well as other business journals and has contributed to several accounting textbooks. Before launching his academic career, he served as a municipal finance manager, auditor, and consultant for large governments and Big 4 consulting/accounting firms. Dr. Zender is also a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), and Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM). He holds his PhD from Auburn University in Alabama.
